Average rent price in Boston?

I'm currently thinking about moving to Boston and am wondering what the average rent is for a one bedroom apartment in Boston.

I'm also looking for something that would be within 5-10 minutes of the T, as I won't have a car.

It can really vary depending upon if you live right in Boston or on the outlying cites around (Quincy, Newton, Brighton, etc.) I live in Quincy, with walking distance to the T and pay around 1500/mth

But in the city you will probably be looking at closer to 2000/mth

you can expect to pay at least $1500 to $2300 depending on area. Back bay vs Kenmore sq.

Check out BostonForRENT.com on pricing for apts in the Boston and surrounding towns, what is also important are you in back bay or brookline there is $1000 price diff right there.

As for the T the green line is good and parts of the red line

Newton, Cambridge are expensive. Stay way from Roxbury/Dorchester even if the rents are cheaper. I lived there years ago, but all of my family is there and I'm currently looking to move back. apartmentrentline.com and rentwk.com are a good place to start they will help find something in your range as well. I am working with them. Middleboro, Hull, Quincy, Braintree your looking at 950-1500 depending on 1 or 2 bedrooms and the area.

An average on bed is about 1500. Unless you went outside of the city, then you could get something a LITTLE lower, but this is still typical.

my boyfriend lives on commonwealth, he shares a 4 bedroom and they each pay $650.00 a month. i believe he said he was finding 1 bedrooms for 1000.00 to 1200.00 a month, depending on the neighborhood. i think it may even be more expensive than that though.
