Approximate rent for Boston-area apartment in the summer?

I'm a college student trying to plan for next summer. (I know I'm starting early!) I'd like to rent an apartment in the Boston area (not necessarily the actual city--probably the outside "suburb" parts, but still accessible via the T). I'll probably have roommates, and don't need anything too fancy. I'm wondering what sort of money I should save up now to pay for the rent. Any ideas about a monthly rent range in the area? Thanks!

Depends where at in Boston the bad ares about 800. the good parts 1000 and up

Try Cambridge or Somerville. I live in Somerville and we rent apartments and I can tell you our first floor is a one bedroom and that is $1000 a month, and the second floor is about a 2-3 bed room and that one is $1500 a month.

Both places are 5min outside the city of Boston and are great places for college students. Tons of college students live in my area of Somerville. I have lived here all my life and I am 26.

Check on Craigslist.com Room shares. It's VERY dependent on the town/neighborhood, distance to a T stop, age of building.

Your best bet is a summer sublet in one of the student neighborhoods rather than a suburb. Only a quarter or so of the students stay for the summer. Try Allston, Kenmore/Fenway, Jamaica Plain (all in Boston) -- and Cambridge and Brookline (towns next-door).
